SULAIMANI — Three people were killed and at least twenty others were wounded in three bomb blasts in Baghdad on Monday (July 15).

In one attack, two suicide bombers blew themselves near a Shia mosque in the Maalf area south of Baghdad, a police officer named Ahmad Khalaf told the media.

“Two people were killed,” Khalaf said. A security source later told Baghdad Today that at least 20 people had been wounded.

“In a separate incident, a person was killed and four others were wounded in a motorcycle bomb blast in the Sabbur area north of Baghdad,” Khalaf continued.

Baghdad Joint Operations thwarted another attack by booby-trapped vehicle in Naireiya east of Baghdad, he added.

No group has yet claimed responsibility, but Islamic State has been known to carry out similar attacks in the past.
