2 Iraqi soldiers and 1 YBS fighter killed, others wounded in clashes in Sinjar

SULAIMANI – Three people were killed and six others were wounded in clashes between the Sinjar Resistance Units (YBS) and the Iraqi army near the Iraqi-Syrian border.

The fight occurred at around 9:00 p.m. when a YBS unit tried to enter the Rojava soil through the Tarbka checkpoint.

An YBS fighter and two Iraqi soldiers were killed. Four Iraqi soldiers and two YBS fighters were wounded.

“The YBS fighters were evacuated to Khanasour Hospital and the wounded Iraqi soldiers to Snune Emergency Hospital,” NRT Digital Media reporter Nazir Shangali said.

Later, the Iraqi army released a statement saying that the militants drove a vehicle into one soldier and attacked the checkpoint, according to Reuters.

The Iraqi army has deployed additional forces to the checkpoint and warplanes were spotted overhead, Iraqi media reported.
