The Sunni National Political Council has nominated six candidates for the post of speaker of the Iraqi parliament.
Ammar Azawi, a member of the Siyada coalition, said on Monday that although these individuals have been nominated, political parties may still agree on candidates from outside this list.
He said the main criteria for selecting an official candidate include having a strong leadership personality, maintaining balanced relations with all political parties, being widely acceptable, and having the ability to run parliamentary sessions effectively.
The six nominees for the speaker position are:
Mohammed Halbusi, Sabbath Abbasi, Salim Isawi, Mahmoud Qaisi, Mohammed Tamim, and Musanna Samarai.
