According to local reports, forces affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) evacuated the village of Lajan on Monday night and detained more than 20 people.
An NRT reporter said that the operation involved surrounding the village, and hundreds of residents including men, women, and children were moved out of their homes. The reporter added that the area was also surrounded by KDP forces outside the village.
During the operation, telephone and internet services were reportedly cut, leaving the residents of Lajan with no communication access to the outside world.
