Iraqi Interior Ministry: 49 Million National Cards Issued

The Iraqi Interior Ministry announced that the total number of unified national cards issued since the start of the project in 2015 has reached nearly 49 million cards.


Munazil Saeedi, Director of Information at the General Directorate of Civil Status, Passports, and Residence, stated that 48 million and 712 thousand cards have been issued so far. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to expanding services and simplifying procedures for citizens both inside Iraq and abroad.



Services for Iraqis Abroad



To serve the diaspora, eight national card branches have been opened inside Iraqi embassies located in:


  • London
  • Abu Dhabi
  • Amman
  • Cairo
  • Tehran
  • Detroit
  • Frankfurt
  • Ankara




Registration Centers in Iraq



There are now 20 central registration centers across Iraqi provinces, including three in Baghdad. Other provinces with active centers include: Karbala, Najaf, Nineveh, Basra, Kirkuk, Salahaddin, Ziqar, Maysan, Diyala, Anbar, Wasit, Babylon, Diwaniya, and Musanna.


The ministry reaffirmed that the unified national card system remains one of Iraq’s key digital governance projects, aimed at improving administrative services and ensuring streamlined access to civil status documentation for all Iraqis.
