PUK leader Bafel Jalal Talabani congratulated Massoud Barzani on the 79th anniversary of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP) founding, stressing the importance of unity between the two major parties.
"We emphasize the coordination and unity between the PUK and KDP in order to work together, fulfill national and decisive tasks, strengthen our institutions, and improve people’s lives,” Talabani said in his message.
The PUK leader’s remarks come at a time when relations between the two parties have been strained, particularly during the ongoing election campaign in which Talabani has openly criticized the KDP. Nonetheless, his latest statement signals an attempt to project cooperation and stability in Kurdistan’s political arena.
