The Iraqi Council of Ministers has officially repealed the Public Employees Pension Fund Regulation No. 4 of 2008, replacing it with Regulation No. 8 of 2025. The decision, published in the Iraqi Gazette (Waqi’i), is described as an administrative reorganization aimed at streamlining pension management.
According to the new regulation, all instructions issued under the 2008 law are now void. Article 2 states that the change is designed to improve the implementation of internal distribution rules and restructure the General Pension Board’s duties.
The new framework transfers all pension-related responsibilities directly to the General Pension Board, effectively ending the work of the old fund but maintaining its core functions under a new administrative structure.
