Bafel Talabani, leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), stated that ongoing talks between the PUK and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) are centered on the conditions for forming a new government. He emphasized that if the distribution of ministerial positions does not align with the preferences of the parties involved, they have the option to explore other possibilities.
In a statement today, Talabani assured that the new cabinet would be designed to meet the expectations of all involved parties. He stressed that if the cabinet does not reflect what the parties desire, it will ultimately serve no useful purpose.
"The talks between the PUK and KDP are about ensuring the formation of a government that is in the best interest of the people,” Talabani said. "We are committed to creating a government that serves the citizens and works for the greater good of the Kurdistan Region.”
The ongoing discussions between the two main Kurdish parties have been a key part of efforts to form a new regional government following recent elections. Talabani’s comments underline the importance of a government that is formed with the full agreement and satisfaction of all parties involved.
