141 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Saturday (May 15) it officially recorded 141 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 52 new cases in Duhok governorate, 44 in Erbil, twenty in Raparin administration, fourteen in Sulaimani governorate, and eleven in Halabja.

On October 27, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 1,597 infections.

The ministry also said six patients had died from the disease, while 753 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 160,031 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 143,074 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 4,150 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
