755 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday (May 12) it officially recorded 755 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 303 new cases in Duhok governorate, 227 in Sulaimani, 134 in Erbil, 54 in the Garmian administration, twenty in the Raparin administration, and seventeen in Halabja.

On October 27, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 1,597 infections.

The ministry also said four patients had died from the disease, while 1,123 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 158,901 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 140,261 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 4,131 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
