May 13 will be first day of Eid al-Fitr in Kurdistan Region: KRG

SULAIMANI — Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Minister of Endowment and Religious Affairs Pshtiwan Sadiq on Tuesday (May 11) announced that Thursday would be the first day of Eid al-Fitr in the Kurdistan Region.

Sadiq said during a press conference that the ministry’s representatives could not see the moon on Tuesday evening, which makes Wednesday the last and 30th day of Ramadan.

Saudi Arabi also announced Thursday as the first day of Eid.

The KRG Department of Media and Information said in statement that operation at the government offices will be normal on Wednesday and Thursday will be official holiday.

It added that operations will resume on Sunday.
