664 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday (May 11) it officially recorded 664 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 223 new cases in Duhok governorate, 207 in Sulaimani, 141 in Erbil, 73 in the Garmian administration, and twenty in Halabja.

On October 27, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 1,597 infections.

The ministry also said nine patients had died from the disease, while 1,117 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 158,148 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 139,138 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 4,127 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
