SULAIMANI — Spokesperson for Iraq’s Commander-in-Chief said on Monday (September 28) that an Islamic State (ISIS) militant was killed and eleven hideouts belonging to group were destroyed in an operation in Kirkuk governorate.

Yehia Rasoul said that the operations focused on the Wadi Karha area, Maizilah village, and Bay Hassan district and were carried out by the Federal Police. They also seized a large quantity of munitions.

Earlier on Monday, federal interior ministry said that a force from the Intelligence and Investigative Agency seized a cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosive materials in Kirkuk’s Mutiq village.

Iraq declared victory over ISIS in December 2017, but the militant group routinely launches attacks against civilian and military targets, especially in the disputed area claimed by both Erbil and Baghdad.
