Continuing rapid increase in number of people falling ill, 658 new coronavirus cases recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health said on Saturday (August 15) that it has recorded 658 new cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region over the past 24 hours.

A total of 443 of the newest cases are in Erbil governorate, along with 128 in Sulaimani, 67 in Duhok, and 20 in Garmian.

The ministry also said that twenty patients have died from the virus, while 179 patients recovered from the disease.

According to the health ministry, there have been 20,335 cases of coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 11,207 patients has recovered from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, and 732 have died from it.
