Kurdistan Region passes 16,000 officially recorded coronavirus cases: health ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health said on Thursday (August 6) that it has recorded 507 new cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region.

A total of 244 of the newest cases are in Erbil governorate, along with 92 in Duhok, 70 in Sulaimani, 59 in the Raparin administration, 28 in the Garmian administration, and fourteen in Halabja.

The ministry also said that fourteen patients have died from the virus, while 132 patients recovered from the disease.

According to the health ministry, there have been 16,084 cases of coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 9,843 patients has recovered from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, and 611 have died from it.
