Police in Halabja arrest suspects for theft, firing a weapon randomly

SULAIMANI — The Halabja Police Directorate said on Thursday (July 16) that its officers have arrested two suspects, one accused of theft and the other for randomly firing a weapon in the city center.

Halabja Police Directorate Spokesperson Barzan Osman said that a 15-year-old man was arrested for stealing 35,000,000 Iraqi dinars ($29,340) and $1,500 in US currency in the governorate's Kani Ashqan area, adding that the suspect had confessed the crime and been detained under Article 444 of the Iraqi Penal Code.

Osman also said that a 25-year-old perpetrator was arrested under Article 21 of the Weapons Law for randomly firing gunshots in the city center. No one was hurt in the incident.
