2,281 new coronavirus cases recorded in Iraq: ministry

SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Health said on Thursday (July 16) that it recorded 2,281 new cases of coronavirus and 90 deaths in the country over the past 24 hours.

A total of 664 of the newest cases are in Baghdad governorate, along with 215 in Basra, 179 in Babil, 156 in Sulaimani, 132 in Dhi Qar, 129 in Kirkuk, 128 in Wasit, 118 in Karbala, 99 in Diyala, 85 in Najaf, 73 in Erbil, 69 in Maysan, 66 in Diwaniya, 65 in Saladin, 55 in Muthanna, twenty four in Nineveh, fifteen in Anbar, and nine in Duhok.

The ministry said that 90 patients died from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, 1,695 patients recovered from it.

According to the health ministry, there have been 86,148 cases of coronavirus in Iraq. 54,316 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 3,522 have died from it.
