Six ISIS militants killed in Kirkuk, others arrested near Baghdad: army

SULAIMANI — Iraq's Armed Forces Command said on Thursday (July 16) that six Islamic State (ISIS) militants were killed in an operation in Kirkuk governorate.

Spokesperson Major General Yahya Rasool said that the operation was conducted in the Chai Valley in the southern part of the governorate and was supported by warplanes belonging to the international coalition.

Rasool also said that the Iraqi Counterterrorism Forces arrested an ISIS militant in Abu Ghraib near Baghdad and three others in the Taji area north of the capital.

On Wednesday, he announced that an ISIS leader in Baghdad, named Omar Shalal Ubaid, was killed during one of their operations.
