2,170 new coronavirus cases recorded in Iraq: ministry

SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Health said on Thursday (July 9) that it recorded 2,170 new cases of coronavirus and 103 deaths in the country over the past 24 hours.

A total of 638 of the newest cases are in Baghdad governorate, 208 in Sulaimani, 145 in Diwaniya, 141 in Karbala, 137 in Wasit, 131 in Basra, 113 in Kirkuk, 100 in Muthanna, 93 in Babil, 90 in Maysan, 88 in Najaf, 86 in Diyala, 57 in Erbil, 49 in Dhi Qar, 29 in Duhok, twenty two in Anbar, twenty two in Nineveh, and twenty one in saladin.

The ministry said that 103 patients died from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, and 1,623 patients recovered from it.

According to the health ministry, there have been 69,612 cases of coronavirus in Iraq. 39,502 patients have recovered from COVID-19, and 2,882 have died from it.
