Twenty-nine new cases of coronavirus recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health said on Monday night (June 1) that it recorded twenty-nine new cases of coronavirus in Sulaimani and Erbil governorates and the Garmian administration.

The ministry said that the newest patients include fourteen people from Sulaimani city, six from Kifri, four from Kalar, and one each from Erbil, Chamchamal, Penjwen, Baghdad, and Tikrit. The last two were people who had traveled from those areas, but tested positive in the Garmian administration.

The newest patients include thirteen women and sixteen men. Nineteen of them presented with symptoms, nine were identified through contact tracing, and one returned from Baghdad.

According to the health ministry, there have been 745 cases of coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region. Four hundred and twenty patients have recovered from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, and seven have died from it.
