SULAIMANI — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Friday (January 24) met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

During the meeting, Barzani stressed the importance of the international coalition's participation in the fight against Islamic State (ISIS) and terrorism in Iraq and the Middle East.

Barzani and Guterres also talked about the formation of a new cabinet in Iraq, the situation of Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons in the Region, and latest developments in the wider region.

Barzani conveyed his support for the protesters in central and southern Iraq in their demands for basic services and a better future.

The meeting came at the end of a busy visit to Davos for Barzani and the Kurdistan Region's delegation, where he also met US President Donald Trump and other world leaders.
