SULAIMANI — The Kirkuk Police Directorate said that a police officer was killed and two civilians were wounded on Friday (December 6) near the Abdulla Mosque in an explosion in Panja Ali district.

A local police chief told NRT Digital Media that the incident occurred after Friday prayers.

Officer Karwan Othman was severely injured and succumbed to his injuries at Kirkuk Hospital and two other civilians were injured.

No group has so far claimed responsibility.

On Saturday November 30, at least sixteen people were wounded when three bombs exploded in Kirkuk, which the security commander blamed on ISIS.

Taking advantage of the security vacuum between federal and KRG forces, ISIS continues to operate in the disputed areas, particularly in Diyala and Kirkuk governorates.
