SULAIMANI — Turkish warplanes bombed Kurazhar Mountain in Amedi’s Shiladze sub-district on Monday (May 6).

NRT Digital Media reporter Nihad Oramari said that the Turkish fighter jets conducted two strikes at approximately 5:00 p.m.

The bombardment was just two kilometers away from the center of Shiladze town, which caused fear and anxiety among the area’s residents, according to Oramari.

The extent of the damage caused by the strikes is still being assessed.

Turkey has recently increased the frequency of it strikes on targets in the Kurdistan Region with five separate areas targeted over the past week, including Matin Mountain, the Gara Mountains, Chamaki sub-district, Alhum Mountain, and the foothills of Qandil Mountain.

Turkey conducts the raids as part of an effort to combat Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) bases in the Region.
