SULAIMANI — Kurdistan Regional
Government (KRG) Spokesperson Jotiar Adil said on Monday (January 17) the KRG
has decided to carry out reforms regarding government employees’ salaries.
Adil
told Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) media outlets that the decision does not
mean employees’ salaries will be reduced but instead employees on the payroll
who do not work will no longer receive salaries.
The
decision involves employees whose names are listed in KRG ministries and
administrations who never attend work but continue to receive salaries.
Adil
also said the KRG has a plan to diversify the Kurdistan Region’s income by
encouraging the private sector and investment.
