Erbil, Baghdad agree to coordinated operations against ISIS

SULAIMANI — A representative from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Baghdad said on Sunday (December 5) the Ministry of Peshmerga and Iraq’s Ministry of Defense have agreed to resolve security problems in areas where the Islamic State (ISIS) carries out attacks.

Major General Abdulkhaliq Talaat, the KRG representative for the Joint Operations Command, told official Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) media the two ministries have agreed to carry out coordinated operations as soon as possible in the area to eliminate ISIS militants.

Talaat said the first stage will focus on the borders of the Diyala and Kirkuk governorates and joint forces will be placed in those areas in the future.
