SULAIMANI — A resident told NRT nearly 25 militants tried enter the village of Liheban in
Kirkuk province’s Sargaran sub-district on Saturday (December 4) night.
Villagers
responded to the attack, which began at about 10 pm and continued until 3 am.
The
villager said neither Iraqi Security Forces nor Peshmerga aided them in the
attack, adding this was the fourth such attack in which the villagers had to
defend themselves.
Another villager said there were formerly 60 families in the
village but only ten remain, and they are willing to leave.
The resident said living conditions in their village have
deteriorated and their farmland has been damaged.
