SULAIMANI — The
Kurdistan Regional Government's Ministry of Culture said on Wednesday (November
24) the Piramagrun Public Library was set on fire by protesters.
The ministry said, "We
strongly condemn any act of destruction.”
The ministry stated
protesters also attacked other governmental offices.
On Wednesday, students
from universities and institutes across the Kurdistan Region protested for the
fourth day demanding the KRG resume issuing their monthly stipends.
The Council of
Ministers announced on Wednesday the ministry has decided to allocate a budget
to assist students at public universities and institutes following days of
protests over the non-payment of student stipends.
