1,347 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday (July 20) it officially recorded 1,347 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 638 new cases in Duhok governorate, 348 in Erbil, 297 in Sulaimani, 42 in the Garmian administration, twenty-one in Halabja, and one in the Raparin administration.

On October 27, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 1,597 infections.

The ministry also said sixteen patients had died from the disease, while 787 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 206,922 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 188,057 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 4,615 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
