1,331 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Friday (October 15) it officially recorded 1,331 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 483 new cases in Erbil, 410 in Sulaimani governorate, 322 in Duhok, 57 in the Raparin administration, and 37 in the Garmian administration, and four in Halabja.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections.

The ministry also said fifteen patients had died from the disease, while 1,554 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 348,584 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 322,039 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 6,104 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
