SULAIMANI — The General Customs Authority confirmed on Monday (February 23) that it was checking all food and goods entering the Kurdistan Region as part of an effort to prevent a local coronavirus outbreak.

The General Customs Authority said that they have sent directives to all customs checkpoints under their control ordering officials to check every truck importing goods and to prevent them from entering unless their drivers pass medical checks and their cargo is deemed uninfected.

The border between Iran and Kurdistan Region has been closed for personal travel since Friday due to the coronavirus cases in Iran, but limited economic activity has continued.
