SULAIMANI — Sulaimani Asayish Director Rizgar Hamarahim said during a press conference on Thursday (January 23) that 331 people were arrested in Sulaimani governorate in 2019 on suspicion of having ties to the Islamic State.

Hamarahim said that 280 of those who were arrested were men and 51 were women. Forty-six were ethnic Kurds.

He also said that 2,027 people were arrested in 2019 for the crimes including murder, theft, fraud, abduction, spying, and human trafficking.
