SULAIMANI — Turkish warplanes bombed mountainous areas in the Zakho district of the Kurdistan Region on Monday (November 19).

NRT Digital Media reporter Ahmed Zakhoyee said the Turkish fighter jets struck Khamtir Mountain near Zakho on Monday morning.

The bombardment has caused concern among villagers near the area, the reporter added.

Casualties and what damage was caused by the air strike remained unclear.

A witness told NRT Digital Media that the Turkish warplanes had bombed the mountain twice on Monday.

Three Kurdish civilians were killed in Turkish airstrikes in the Kurdistan Region's Amedi district last week.

Turkey has intermittently carried out airstrikes against suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Kurdistan Region. Besides airstrikes, units of Turkish army have entered 30 kilometers into the Kurdistan Region.
