Four members of ISIS' police force sentenced to life imprisonment

SULAIMANI — The Rusafa Central Criminal Court in Baghdad sentenced four members of Islamic State (ISIS) to life imprisonment on Sunday (September 23).

"The convicts were working in what is known as the Islamic police” and  “after repeating an oath, [they] entered into a legal and military training course, according to their confessions, " said Judge Abdul Sattar Birqdar, spokesman for the Supreme Judicial Council.

"The convicts were receiving a financial guarantee from [ISIS] in addition to wearing the uniform of the organization," Berkdar added.

"The court found sufficient evidence to convict the defendants in accordance with Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005 and sentenced them to life imprisonment."
