SULAIMANI — Ministers and officials from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) met with the Region's governors, Asayish officials, and customs directors in Erbil on Saturday (February 22) to discuss countermeasures to prevent a local coronavirus outbreak.

NRT Digital Media reporter Muhammad Ammr said that the meeting was chaired by KRG Minister of Interior Rebar Ahmad and also included the ministers of agriculture and water resources, transport and communications, and endowment and religious affairs.

While the majority of the meeting was about immediate preparations, the discussion also touched on issues like the importation of goods into the Region and how to handle pilgrimage travel.

The Kurdistan Region and Iraq closed all border crossings and suspended all flights with Iran on Friday. A total of 28 cases have been recorded in Iran, with five fatalities.
