SULAIMANI – Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami said on Sunday (September 22) that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) will continue working to draft the Region’s 2020 budget in coordination with federal official in Baghdad.

Following a meeting with the Union of Islamic Scholars of Kurdistan, Hawrami said that the KRG would send a reform proposal to the Kurdistan Parliament in the near future, which would include changes to governance, public services, and the collection and distribution of income.

“We need to send more delegations from all the Region’s institutions to Baghdad for discussions on 2020 draft federal budget,” he added.

The Kurdistan Parliament has not passed budget law since 2014, prompting criticisms that the KRG’s spending is not transparent.
