32 suspects arrested on narcotics trafficking in Soran: Erbil Asayish

SULAIMANI – The Directorate for Combating Narcotics within the Erbil General Asayish Directorate said on Tuesday (August 20) that 32 suspects had been arrested in Soran district over the last three months on narcotics trafficking and other charges.

The suspects were arrested between May 20 and August 20 on charges of narcotics use and trafficking, as well as trading illegal medicine and counterfeiting currency.

“The cases have been transferred to the relevant courts,” the statement added.

Narcotics trafficking and use have been rising in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq over the past several years according to statistics kept by the security forces, prompting warnings from the authorities.
