SULAIMANI — Turkish soldiers entered the village of Siran in Sidakan and arrested two shepherds on Monday (August 19), according to a local official.

The director of Sidakan sub-district Ihsan Chalabi said that a Turkish army unit had arrested two men he identified as Abdulqahar Lazgin and Jihad Salima, who worked as shepherds.

As of Monday afternoon, they had not yet been released.

Chalabi added that the army wanted to speak with a representative of the village as part of an investigation.

An NRT Digital Media reporter said that the village had been evacuated twenty days ago when its residents fled their homes because of fighting between the Turkish army and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
