SULAIMANI – Emir of the Kurdistan Islamic Group (KIG) Ali Bapir said on Monday (April 22) that the party should not participate in the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

“There is no benefit for us to participate in the new cabinet,” Bapir said, before adding that the process had always seemed fraught.

“You can tell if food is tasty from the beginning,” he said.

He also said that the formation of the government was being delayed because the parties were fighting over positions, not because they cared about the problems of the people or achieving reform.

More than 204 days have passed since the Kurdistan parliamentary election.

Earlier on Monday, KRG Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani said that the delay was “normal.”
