SULAIMANI — Hengaw Organization for Human Rights said on
Sunday (October 23) a Kurdish student was beaten to death by security forces in
Hamadan, Iran two weeks ago.
Hengaw said Negin Abdulmaleki a 21-year-old female medical
student from the city of Qorveh in Kurdistan province, died after she was
attacked by security forces wielding batons during protests in Hamadan on
October 12.
Witnesses at the Hamadan University said Abdulmaleki died
after returning to her dormitory, according to Hengaw, which added the students
were threatened and pressured to say she had died after eating expired canned
fish.
Hengaw said on Sunday they were able to verify the
identities of 57 Kurdish students kidnapped by security agencies in different
cities. The group believes there are more than 150 Kurdish students who have
been kidnapped.
According to Hengaw, 16-year-old Nima Shafiqdoost from
Selmas in West Azerbaijan province died days after he was detained and severely
injured in custody.
