SULAIMANI— Sulaimani International Airport said today (May 16) that all flights at the airport are cancelled due to a dust storm in the Kurdistan Region.

The airport issued a statement saying that all flights were temporarily cancelled due to a dust storm and reduced visibility.

Flights will resume once weather conditions improve, it said.

Flights at Erbil International Airport are not affected.

The dust storm is expected to last until tomorrow, with its effect starting to dwindle later tonight, according to the director of Sulaimani Meteorology and Seismology.

Aso Kamal told NRT today that the dust storm has primarily affected central and southern Iraq.

He explained that the lack of rain this year has contributed to more frequent dust storms.
