1,581 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Monday (January 24) it officially recorded 1,581 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 870 new cases in Erbil governorate., 437 in Duhok, 216 in Sulaimani, and 46 in Garmian administration, seven in Halabja, and five in Raparin administration.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections. The ministry also said three patients had died from the disease, while 240 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 399,938 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region.

An official tally of 375,938 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 7,190 have died from it. The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
