580 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Saturday (January 22) it officially recorded 580 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 278 new cases in Duhok governorate., 258 in Erbil, 38 in Sulaimani, and ten in Raparin administration.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections. The ministry also said four patients had died from the disease, while 245 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 396,428 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region.

An official tally of 375,213 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 7,184 have died from it. The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
