Man dies in attempted rescue from wrecked car in Kurdistan Region

SULAIMANI — The Darbandikhan Health Directorate said on Thursday (January 20) a man died in an attempt to rescue his injured brother from a car after a traffic accident.

The directorate said in a statement the man, Imran Ismail, left his car to rescue his wounded brother, proceeding on foot because weather conditions had blocked the road. Ismail died while trekking through the snow.

Both brothers were from Khanaqin and were oil tanker drivers, according to the statement, adding the wounded brother had survived and was receiving proper medical treatment.

The statement did not mention the cause of Ismail’s death.
